Michael J. Hayes, Jr.

Michael Hayes provides counsel in municipal and labor law as well as civil rights and personal injury litigation. Having graduated from the University of Illinois in 1993 and DePaul University College of Law in 1996, he is admitted to the Illinois Bar, the Bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and the United States Supreme Court Bar. Mr. Hayes is a member of the Fenwick Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association.

He has worked in all three branches of Illinois government. He served as legal counsel to various committees for the Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives, as a law clerk for Illinois Appellate Court Justice, and now-Illinois Supreme Court Justice Anne Burke, and as counsel in the Illinois Attorney General’s Office.

Mr. Hayes has represented clients in commercial litigation, civil rights and personal injury matters in state and federal courts, including products liability, medical malpractice, insurance and contractual disputes. He has performed arbitrations and conducted trials before the Illinois Labor Relations Board and the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board, among other administrative bodies. Since 2007, he has served as a special assistant state’s attorney in Cook County.
