Richard F. Bruen, Jr.

Richard Bruen practices in the areas of labor and municipal law. He received his bachelor of science degree in journalism and communications from Northern Illinois University in 1993 and his Juris Doctorate from DePaul University College of Law in 1997. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, and the Bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He is a veteran of the United States Army, having served five years in the infantry branch.

Mr. Bruen served as an administrative hearing officer for the Illinois Department of Labor. As a labor attorney with Odelson & Sterk, he has successfully litigated on behalf of his clients before the National and Illinois Labor Relations Boards, Illinois Department of Human Rights, the Illinois and United States Departments of Labor, City of Chicago Commission on Human Relations and Cook County Commission on Human Rights.

Mr. Bruen recently served for two years as the city attorney for a large Chicago suburb. He has also served on the board of directors for the Berwyn Main Street and Berwyn Development Corporations. Mr. Bruen was a founding member of Berwyn ’s Citizens Aligned to Renew Education for Students and the Berwyn Arts Council.
